Hugh Jackman has posted a new Instagram picture and revealed he has been treated again for a form of skin cancer.

The X-Men star urged fans to protect themselves with sunscreen.

"Another Basel Cell Carsinoma. All out now," he wrote on Instagram, next to an image of his face with a band aid over his nose.

He thanked his doctors and then added: "PLEASE! PLEASE! WEAR SUNSCREEN!"

Last November, Jackman, a 45-year-old Australian, went public with his first skin cancer scare using a similar picture and a similar plea.

The online medical site WebMD.com says basal cell carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer and accounts for more than 90% of US skin cancer patients.

The cancer rarely spreads but if not removed can damage and disfigure surrounding tissue.

Jackman, one of Hollywood's leading action stars, is promoting his latest film, X-Men: Days of Future Past, where he plays Wolverine.

He is set to host the Tony Awards for the third time and will be back on Broadway with a new play.
