Plane Hits Connecticut Homes: Three Missing

Written By Unknown on Sabtu, 10 Agustus 2013 | 00.48

Three people are missing, including two children, after a small plane crashed and set two houses on fire near a Connecticut airport.

The crash occurred on Friday morning near East Haven as the aircraft was approaching Tweed New Haven regional airport.

East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo said the missing include the one person on the plane and two children who were in one of the houses, ages one and 13.

The city's fire chief, Douglas Jackson, said officials "presume there is going to be a very bad outcome".

Smoke was seen rising from the scene and photographs showed the houses on fire.

A neighbour, David Esposito, said he heard a woman screaming that her children were inside the burning home. He added that he went into the house but had to leave because of the fire.

Ambulances and emergency crews are at the scene.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the multi-engine propeller-driven aircraft flew out of Teterboro Airport in New Jersey and crashed as it approached the Tweed New Haven Airport at 11:25 am local time on Friday.
